The objective of this project is to reduce the global amount of usual energy (electricity or gas) consumed for the cooling of buildings. Above all it is necessary to make contracting authorities aware of the necessity of a pre-feasibility study for the reduction of cooling needs. It is only from incompressible needs for cooling that the use of solar energy will be envisaged. Existing buildings in the tertiary sector are nearly all equipped with cooling systems, so the tertiary buildings will constitute the privileged target of this project.

 Working program
· State of art of solar cooling with an inventory and a description of the different cooling techniques for rooms as well as a census of active solar cooling installations.
· Brochure to present to contracting authorities and professionals of buildings sector what it is possible to carry out in the field of solar energy cooling.
· Feasibility studies for solar cooling carried out in each country from a standard profile of potential sites.
· Training for consultants and workshop proposed to professionals of the buildings sector and to the local authorities.
· Results of the project available on Internet in national web sites linked to each others.

 Expected results
One of the results of the project will be the dissemination of the current knowing about active solar cooling or passive techniques. The examples of realisation and the different techniques will be easily available for consultation on Internet and brochures will present these data to a more targeted public. (contracting authorities, professionals of the building sector).
The feasibility studies (about two or three) will lead to installations. Each country will then have a more important number of demonstration sites.
